Detroit Lions Face Uncertainty After Arrest

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is under pressure after finishing last season with a 9-8 record and missing the playoffs.

The offseason has brought even more bad news for Campbell after cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested and is facing multiple felony charges.

What happened to Dan Campbell?

NFL analyst Rob Parker predicted that Campbell would be fired by the Lions next season after the offseason drama.

Parker said Campbell's team was two quarters and a half from getting into the Super Bowl, but blew a 24-7 lead to lose 34-31 to the San Francisco 49ers in 2023.

Why it matters for Detroit Lions

The Lions earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC in 2024 but were upset by the Washington Commanders in the Divisional Round, putting even more pressure on Campbell.

Campbell has managed a 53-43-1 overall record with the Lions in the regular season, and a 2-2 postseason record.

What comes next for Detroit Lions

The Lions are currently standing 1st in the American Football Conference with a 14-3 record, on a W2 streak, and their next game is vs New Orleans Saints on 2026-09-13.

Campbell fired offensive coordinator John Morton and hired Drew Petzing in his place to return the Lions' offense to the lofty heights of previous years.

And the Lions' high roster turnover is a reason for pessimism about next season and Campbell's continued stay in Detroit.

The Lions' star center had to quit due to a failed physical, and they couldn't pay their second running back, letting him go.

So the demise of the Lions has started, and Parker expects Campbell to be the casualty after this season.

The Lions were even better in 2024, setting franchise records for points scored and single-season wins and finishing with a 15-2 record.

But Parker highlighted the Lions' hemorrhaging players as a reason for pessimism about next season.

Campbell led the Lions to their first NFC championship game appearance in 32 years in 2023.

The Lions' offense needs to return to its previous form for Campbell to keep his job.
